IN THE BEGINNING WERE THE LETTERS AB

AB Productions was created in 1977 and specialised in recordings for children.

At the end of the 80s, AB began to produce TV programmes for « kids » and sitcoms that count among the most popular programmes in the history of French television.

At the same time, Claude Berda inaugurated a new activity which AB pioneered in France : the management of a portfolio of programmes through the acquisition of television broadcast rights.
It was the beginning of a strategy that guided the group throughout the 90s : centred on a policy that focuses on content and the enrichment of the group’s catalogue.

>> The objective : becoming one of the major players in the creation and broadcast of programmes.

The history of AB : Content, content, and still more content !

In the mid-90s, digitalisation made possible the multiplication of TV channels. The group anticipated these developments and in 1996 launched its own package of theme channels.

Eighteen channels whose programming comes mostly from its own catalogue and broadcast by satellite.

To finance its projected theme channels, the Group appeared on the New York Stock Exchange in December of 1996.
